Freshman Physics Major Alex Yi selected for CEU Conference in Philadelphia!

UConn Physics undergraduate Alex Yi has been selected to participate in the Conference Experience for Undergraduates (CEU), where he will present a poster on research carried out in the Bhattacharya Nuclear Theory Group. Alex joined the group in Spring 2026 and continued his research intensively throughout the summer as a recipient of the Mark Miller Award. He is now working toward his first research publication based on this project.

Alex’s selection is especially notable because he was accepted to the CEU program as a freshman, even though the program gives priority to juniors and seniors. Undergraduate students may participate in CEU only once during their four-year college career, making his early selection an exceptional opportunity. Alex has also been awarded a travel grant to support his participation.

The conference will give Alex the opportunity to present his research to a broader scientific audience, gain valuable experience communicating his work, and connect with other undergraduate researchers and members of the physics community.

Let us all, as a department, congratulate Alex on this outstanding early milestone and wish him continued success in his research!
