Zac Transport

Laboratory Technician

Physics

Zac Transport was born and raised in Long Island, NY and graduated from John L. Miller North High School in 2014. He completed his undergraduate coursework at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, leaving with a BA in Physics and a concentration in Acoustics. During his time at Skidmore, Zac completed an independent physics research project with his advisor and senior instructor, Jill A. Linz, titled “The sound of color: a fundamental link between acoustics and the physical properties of color.” The purpose of this study was to devise a method for mapping the wavelengths of light in the visible spectrum, or the colors that we see in paintings, into a range of audible frequencies commonly used by musical instruments. Zac was also a DJ for WSPN, Skidmore’s student-run radio station. Zac currently hosts a show (“Grateful Dead & Phriends“) on WHUS Storrs 91.7 FM, every Thursday night from 6-9 pm. Zac plays most string instruments and really likes listening to the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band, and Indian classical music. His favorite superhero is The Flash. Zac is excited to be a part of the UConn Physics Department.
